CRAZY TOWN
Title: "Toxic"
Concept by Spencer Susser
The video for Toxic is a hyper-real Fusion of Hip-Hop and Punk Rock, with the
sensibility of Time Bandits. Toxic is set in a mile-long hallway that leads to a
redrum. The hallway is sparse except for a tiny piercing through the wall that
creates intense laser-like lens flares. The redrum is a room at the end of the
hallway where a party of debauchery forms. Toxic is high energy, fast-paced,
and frenetic.
The video starts with the entire Crazy Town Posse packed into a lowrider,
swooping into the mile-long hallway out of a void of darkness. The headlights
flare into the lens as they come to a stop. Crazy Town is on their way to the
madness at the other end of the hallway, which is the redrum filled with frenetic
and out-of-control residents of this "Crazy Town".
The band moves through the hallway in a unique effortless manner toward the
redrum. The band performs individually and as a group as they move through the
hallway. Shifty moves while being upside down as well. The lowrider they
arrived in bounces with some serious hydraulics as Shifty and Epic perform
sitting in the front seat.
The band performs in the redrum. The people in the redrum are both of the real
and surreal worlds. A man whose body is scratched off of the film in
post-production, glows as he dances. There's a mosh pit intermingled with
breakdancing, guys and girls freaking, etc. . . In the corner two strippers
mudwrestle. When the chorus breaks, fierce wind blows debris and people across
the room.
The speed of the film will be manipulated in order to attain a high-speed,
mechanical look. With budget permitting, arms and hands stretch the fabric of
the hallway walls, trying to grab Crazy Town. The video will have an anamorphic
letterbox with lens flares like laserbeams throughout, with the possibility
(budget permitting) of treating the film in post-production to give it an
infrared night-vision look.
The feel of the video is tight, claustrophobic, and intense. It's important to
realize that the film will be processed and manipulated in a variety of different
ways to create such a distinct, colorful, hyper-real world of crazy-pop, that the
images will forever be associated with Crazy Town.
Since the video relies a great del on visual effects and intense imagery, a
verbal discussion would help relay the concept further.
