TO ALL THE GIRLS I'VE CHEATED ON
Wyclef Jean
Director: McG
3 TIMES A LADY
Hip Hop/R&B Section: Open on Wyclef in his large, airy, fly apartment. He is married to
Lynn Whitfield, but he is with Queen Pen having the ultimate swinging party while the wife's
away. Product is jamming in the corner, girls everywhere, the kind of scene you just want to be
at. Cut to Lynn being driven home in the back of a limo -- make sure to establish the driver as a
young, good looking "Usher type" kid. We see him give her a knowing glance in the mirror, but
what does it mean? Back to the part -- Queen Pen is rhyming and generally running shit as the
grand MC mistress of the party. She dances and performs in front of a chilled ou Wyclef on the
phat couch, who watches his mistress work for him. Cut to shots of Queen P on Clef's lap, Clef
is on the phone, cut to Lynn on the cell -- we see Wyclef holding his finger in front of his mouth,
like "shhhh!" to the party people, cut back to Lynn frowning -- suspecting she hears something in
the background...
At the chorus we see Lynn pulling up to the apartment. Wyclef ushers all the partyers into the
closet; under the bed, behind the sofa, etc. We see Lynn enter and look around like she expects
to bust him, but at first glance everything is cool. Then suddenly cut to the closet door busting
open and 5 girls come spilling out in their underwear. Cut to Lynn's furious face, she grabs
Clef's guitar and hurls it through the window (the ultimate sign of you're outta here!). Cut to the
guitar flying in slow motion against the blue Summer sky... Lastly, we see a tight shot of Clef's
long face -- like he can't believe this happened, he never meant any harm...
Rock Section: Dissolve to the guitar lying on the side of the road -- an abandoned 2-lane desert
highway: It's a big fat hollow body like Brian Setzer from "The Stray Cats" would play. We see
the lonely Wyclef playing guitar and singing, "You cheated on me, I cheated on you," walking
along the side of the road (very cinematic and profound). In time with the verse, 2 girls come
pulling into frame in a 1974 convertible Camaro. The top is down, they look like two of
Charlie's Angels, like Tyra Banks with feathered hair and a young Farrah Fawcett. They pick
him up...
We see Wyclef lying in the back seat looking up at the heavens, singing the verse, "By the time
you hear this song..." At, "You push up the sunroof..." we see Wyclef in the backseat playing
around with the one girl (a minute ago he was brokenhearted, but being the dog he is, he can't
resist), at the next line we see him back there with the other girl (everybody cheatin' on
everybody type thing, but these girls are down to mess around). When the beat drops back in we
see them pulling up to the 70's, outdoor, rock concert extravaganza. All the kids are
completely 70's out -- bandannas, mirrored sunglasses, football jersey shirts that say, "Do it in
the dirt," and "Keep on truckin'," etc. Wyclef on stage rockin' it (I would love to get KISS to be
his back-up band). Everybody is completely feelin' his performance, suddenly he sees his wife
(Lynn) in the audience, dancing way too close to the Usher type guy (or young Billy Dee,
because it is the 70's) that was her driver in the limo!
Everything goes out of focus, but the two lovers, cut to Clef's face reacting with hurt, surprise,
and frustration. He takes off his guitar and starts to climb the huge speaker tower -- he's going to
do the ultimate stage dive to prove his love for his #1 girl. On the way up he looks back over his
shoulder -- Lynn is now deeply kissing the Usher kid. Clef cringes and climbs to the top --
singing the hook all the way with a newfound pain and passion -- he's the one being played now!
We see the crowd encouraging him to leap (like they will catch him)...in time with the last part of
the hook, he does! We see Clef flying through the air, the crowd parts, we see the huge impact
of a body from 30 feet up hitting the ground. But Clef hits the ground and breaks right on
through to...
Reggae Section: The ultimate dance hall/rub-a-dub/sticky/sweaty/sexy dance club. We see
Wyclef (really a stunt double) fall through the ceiling (one continuous motion from the stage
dive) and land smack on the floor. Cut to a tight shot of Clef's face (now actually him) -- he
shakes his head clear of the cobwebs from the impact -- the camera pulls out to reveal a phat, ripe
butt jiggling around right in his face. Clef gets up and begins dancing with every girl in sight.
He grabs the first one in front of his face, then he grabs the one to his left, then the one to the
right, the one behind him -- he strikes with the quickness. It is clear he is on a revenge mission
to hit everything in sight. Throughout, cut to thugs and their girls dancing real close -- the whole
thing is off the hook -- hot and sexy.
In time with the outro "Chickenhead" section, we see a tight shot of the phone at the club's bar,
lying off the hook -- rack focus too... The Refugee Seals standing tall in the doorway of the club.
All heads turn -- smash focus to Clef (surrounded by the hottest girls imaginable), his jaw drops,
he's shocked. Lynn Whitfield enters -- it is clear she has hired the Seals to bring Wyclef's ass
back home. Cut to Clef being ushered out of the club by Canibus, Pras, and Jean Forte. He turns
to the camera and says, "Goodnight," in time with the end of the track. Pan down to the phone
off the hook, we hear, "...please try again." Go to black...
