DR. GREENTHUMB
Cypress Hill
Director: Estevan Oriol
I see Dr. Greenthumb as an idiot savant. "E.R." meets "Jerry Lewis" and "Cheech and Chong,"
but taking place in a "Little Shop of Horrors."
Cypress Hill has quite a comedic twist to most of their music. I know this because I've been
there in the making of it. I have yet to see anyone capture this on video. I've read it in the
interviews, I hear it in the music, see it in real life, but their humor has never been captured on
video.
We open the first shot with hysteria and chaos. At the hospital we see an ambulance pull up to
the emergency room, driven by Bobo and an assistant. The hospital staff is panicking to aid a
patient in need of immediate medical attention. We see the upset family members as we see the
patient rushed to the emergency room. We see a lot of mayhem but we don't see the patient yet.
We then see a doctor walking down the hospital corridor, shot from the waist down with his
swollen Greenthumb. As the patient reaches the emergency room, a team of surgeons and nurses
await him. Two of the doctors are Muggs and Sen Dog. Once in E.R., the patient is revealed
and we see it is a big Venus Flytrap plant. At the same time, the identity of Dr. Greenthumb is
revealed: it's B-Real.
He has his black-framed glasses taped in the middle and one lens is broken. He has a wig parted
on the side and don't forget the pen pocket pouch. Very Jerry Lewis with a touch of Cheech and
Chong. Dr. Greenthumb, having saved the plant, returns to the elevator accompanied by his
associates -- Dr. Muggs and Dr. Sen Dog. We will see them in the elevator going down to the
lab, a surveillance camera view from above the door. The elevator lets them out into the green
room laboratory where he is met by Igor and his beautiful big-busted assistant.
Dr. Greenthumb then takes us for a tour through the lab, showing us all his different kinds of
plants. Plants sing along through the chorus...ooh-ahh, ooh-ahh...while Dr. Greenthumb's pet
dwarf pigs run around throughout the lab.
The video will be shot in a very exaggerated and colorful manner, preferably 35mm, and taking
place in three to four different locations:
1. hospital emergency driveway
2. hallway and emergency room
3. elevator
4. green house laboratory
We will shoot it with wide angle lenses, tight shots and detail shots of everything, including
"Little Shop of Horrors"-esque plants [Venus Flytraps].
In the end we will see a side of Cypress Hill not yet shown. We have so many times seen the
hard or gangster side of them. The time has come to see the comedic side of the Cypress Hill
that I know.
