FIRST AID KIT SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR SINGLE “IT’S A SHAME”

2018 HEADLINE TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Swedish duo First Aid Kit shares the music video for their fantastic new single “It’s A Shame.” Directed by Mats Udd, “It’s A Shame” takes sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg through a Sliding Doors-like journey through the streets of Stockholm. Johanna’s world couldn’t be sunnier, while Klara’s is anything but, beautifully illustrating the bright yet desperately empty themes of the song.

First Aid Kit says: “We proudly present the video for “It’s A Shame,” directed by our dear friend and longtime collaborator Mats Udd. Inspired by “Sliding Doors” and musicals, watch it to see what happens to us during a nightly walk. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!”

“It’s A Shame” was recorded in early 2017 and produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs) in Portland, OR.

In addition to sharing the video for “It’s a Shame,” First Aid Kit has announced a 2018 North American headline tour, kicking off January 24 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and continuing through a final night at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, with Van William supporting. Tickets for the tour are on sale October 13, 2017. The band is currently on tour in the U.S., having performed at both Austin City Limits and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festivals this past weekend. Additional performances in Los Angeles, Austin and New York City are confirmed. See below for all dates.

Praise for “It’s A Shame”

This great Swedish indie-folk duo have an album coming out soon, and if this Dylan-meets-Emmylou Harris shot of country-rock sunshine is any indication, it’s going to be excellent.

Rolling Stone

They’ve returned in top form with “It’s A Shame,” a song about growing tired of a lover and feeling so very bad about that, but it just happened.

Vulture

A brightly polished folk-rock gem.

Stereogum

“Lately, I’ve been thinking about the past,” the song begins, firmly cementing the cut in the melancholy, nostalgic oeuvre of Klara and Johanna Söderberg. Despite its yearning lyrics, however, the song rides on rootsy, upbeat strums and bright flashes of lap steel.

Consequence of Sound

Klara and Johanna Söderberg’s warming vocals and delicate guitar strumming mesh to create a beautifully folky sound, and it resonates in their new single.
